Praise for "Planet Cantaloupe"…
"This new EP includes three instrumental tracks combining kraut rock, prog, psychedelia, electronica and jazz to a pleasant, atmospheric and uplifting mix. First we've got a new track called 'Planet Cantaloupe' that starts off in a mellow, soft way, but starts to rock out a bit more after one minute. It has a jazzy, jamming mode that I really enjoy, and sitar and tanpura also add in some ethnic colours. Great! 'Gitarau Cosmig' is more guitar-oriented (digital, acoustic & Ebow guitars), a bit folk-rocky piece that also has comic, swooshy synths and drums. Very nice. The EP is finished with a twominute 'Planet Cantaloupe (Reprise)' that brings to mind the hazy moments of Gong..."
DJ ASTRO, PSYCHOTROPICZONE
"'Planet Cantaloupe' is a new song recorded by an expanded sextet Spurious Transients lineup of guitar, bass, electronics, drums, saxophone, sitar and tanpura. After a drifty Ambient-Psychedelic-Jazz intro the music breaks into a cool grooving Jazz jam that’s led by the horns, but we’ve also good freeform soloing guitars, an underlying sitar drone wave, a strange soundscape stream of static, free-wheeling percussion to augment the steady drumming, and a general Ambient-Psychedelic vibe. "
JERRY KRANITZ, AURAL INNOVATIONS
"'Planet Cantaloupe' is a delightful melange of jazzy psychedelia with some insistent kosmische rhythms that manages to sound smooth and sultry and yet quirky and unique; the sax adds a real jazz-club smokeyness to the track, but the synths and the ace guitar work give it a hazy psychedelic feel."
DAYZ OF PURPLE AND ORANGE
"The new EP shows a marked change in direction from the debut album which mixed sitar drones, soaring EBow guitars, sweeping synths, minimal electronics and found sounds/field recordings to create harsh Electroacoustic music and more psych tinged, ambient/cosmic soundscapes as the new tracks have a much more jazzier feel than before. The track ‘Planet Cantaloupe’ is a fantastic, loose limbed, wonky Space Jazz/Psychedelic jam which is later reprised with added bubbling electronics."
THEE PSYCHDELICATESSEN, STRANGE THINGS ARE HAPPENING
Post-psychedelic krautrock-inspired Welsh electronic music collective, strong DIY ethic, supporters & purveyors of non-disposable music on physical media, demanding fair play for musicians!
Brilliant album of original music inspired by George Orwell's "1984". Largely electronic, it doesn't quite descend into the realms of ambience because of the unsettling feel of the music. Spurious Transients
Inspired use of spoken word content and beautifully crafted modern electronica exploring themes of human migration, alienation and identity. Spurious Transients
A compendium of conflict told through a nautical lens: calm seas that belie the frantic happenings below; arduous journeys bereft of destination; shelter without peace and of peace without shelter. Spurious Transients
